Mkenya Daima II: From Apathy to Action

In the month of July we revisited the subject of Stewardship of our Citizenship. We saw that being in Kenya was not an accident. The colonialists may have drawn up the boundaries but it is God who makes nations.

God began by making one man, and from him he made all the different people who live everywhere in the world. He decided exactly when and where they would live.” (Act 17:26)

Our Kenyan-ness is God ordained. He expects us to accept that and become custodians on this nations, for our enjoyment and the blessing of others in the region.

We wind up the series Mkenya Daima II on Sunday 29th with a celebration.

This Sunday 29th July: Celebrating Kenyan Cultures

We are invited to showcase our diverse cultures. We will do this in dance, worship, dress and sampling Kenyan cuisine.

Kenyan Cuisine

Consider making a dish enough for your family and-in the common Kenyan culture-for sharing with a guest.

Preachers

We shall have the following share from God’s word at this celebration service.

Embakasi: Pst. Bob Kikuyu

Syokimau: Pst. Simon Mbevi

Building Projects Update: PCC & Embakasi

We are moving forward with our building projects.

Embakasi: the building team has been in consultations with the consultants. We are shortlisting contractors ahead of the tendering process. We anticipate this to be finalized in August for the contractors to move in immediately. As promised, the ground breaking excavation will be in September.

Finances: through the gracious giving of church members, we have sufficient funds to get the contractor on site to do the first phase (Excavation, Backfilling, foundations to ground floor.) This is in the form of soft loans advanced to us. We shall be paying this money back every month for the next two years. This means we have to raise a substantial amount every month at our Gift Sundays. We need everyone to participate in this. The next Gift Sunday at Embakasi will be on 5th August.

Syokimau: Our project here is at the design and concept stage. We are finalizing with the architect on the site layout which will have a 450 seater church hall and a single storied classroom & Office block. This will be followed by the approval process.

Finances: The phase one budget is 3.2 M Shillings. Of this the church members have so far pledged up to 0.44 M Shillings. We shall have a Fundraising Service on 30th September with a target of raising up to 1M. We have so far set aside in a fixed deposit account 0.6 M from the operations budget. Everyone is invited to collect a Partner Invite card for inviting our friends and contacts to the fundraiser. For a personal faith pledge (one time or monthly) we will avail pledge cards.
